Mountain Builders
We're a deck-focused construction team based in the Big Sky area. Every project we take on is in the Gallatin Valley, which means we're not splitting attention between mountain builds and flatland subdivisions two hundred miles away. You see it in how we account for snow drifting patterns against your house, how we orient your deck to catch evening alpenglow on the Spanish Peaks, and how we select materials that won't fail at 6,800 feet.
Why We Specialize
Big Sky's building environment is demanding. Extreme UV, heavy snow, freeze-thaw cycles, steep terrain, and a compressed building season from May to October mean that general contractors who "also do decks" often underestimate what's required.
We've seen the results of that underestimation: composite boards cupping and cracking from UV exposure because the wrong product was specified, footings heaving because they weren't set below the 48-inch frost line, and railing posts snapping under snow load because the connections weren't engineered for it.
Specializing in decks means we've solved these problems hundreds of times. We know exactly which products perform at elevation, which structural connections hold up under snow, and which designs turn Big Sky's challenging terrain into an asset.
Our Approach
Every project begins with a site assessment where we walk your property, discuss your goals, and identify engineering realities. Some properties need helical piers. Some need retaining walls before the deck work begins. Some have bedrock at 18 inches that changes the foundation approach.
After the site visit, you get a design proposal with material options, structural specifications, a timeline, and a fixed price. The price accounts for everything we find on site.
Quality Over Volume
We limit our annual project count to maintain quality and schedule reliability. Big Sky's building season is short, May through October in most years, sometimes shorter at Mountain Village elevation. Rather than stack projects and hope the weather cooperates, we schedule with buffer time built in.
This means we book up. If you're planning a deck for next summer, the best time to start the conversation is late winter. February and March consultations typically secure June-August build slots.
Licensed, Insured, Local
We're fully licensed for construction in Gallatin County and carry comprehensive general liability and workers' compensation insurance. We handle all permitting, inspections, and code compliance as part of every project.
We live in the Gallatin Valley. When you call, you're talking to someone who knows the difference between a Mountain Village address and a Meadow Village address, and what that means for your build.
