Deck Building Across the Gallatin Valley
We're based in the Big Sky area and serve the greater Gallatin Valley, from Bozeman to West Yellowstone. Each community has its own building codes and terrain. We've built in all of them.
Big Sky
Our home base. Mountain Village, Meadow Village, and Town Center each present different building conditions. Mountain Village sits at 7,500+ feet with steep terrain and heavy snow. Meadow Village offers gentler topography at 6,300 feet. Town Center is the newest development with modern building standards and walkable design.
We know the micro-conditions here: which lots face prevailing winds from the northwest, which south-facing slopes get the earliest spring thaw, and which Mountain Village addresses require crane access for material delivery.
Notable project areas: Moonlight Basin, Spanish Peaks Mountain Club, Yellowstone Club (member properties), Cascade Ridge, Lone Moose Meadows.
Bozeman
Montana's fastest-growing city, 45 minutes north of Big Sky on Highway 191. Bozeman sits at 4,820 feet. Lower elevation means less UV stress but still a full Montana winter. The building boom in South Bozeman, the Cannery District, and northeast developments near Bridger Bowl keeps us busy year-round.
Bozeman's Gallatin County permits follow the same structural requirements as Big Sky, so homeowners get the same snow-load engineering we apply to mountain builds. We work in Bozeman during Big Sky's shoulder seasons to keep our crew active.
Common project types: New construction deck additions, aging deck replacements, multi-tier hillside builds on Bozeman's south side.
Gallatin Gateway
The gateway corridor between Bozeman and Big Sky along Highway 191. Properties here tend toward larger lots, 5 to 40 acres, with ranch-style homes and newer custom builds. Many Gallatin Gateway homeowners want expansive decks that complement their acreage and mountain views.
The Gallatin River runs through the heart of this area. Riverside properties require extra attention to drainage, erosion control, and floodplain setbacks.
West Yellowstone
Fifty miles south of Big Sky, West Yellowstone is a tourism hub at the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. At 6,667 feet, it faces even heavier snowfall than Big Sky, often exceeding 250 inches annually. Short building seasons (June through September) require tight scheduling.
We work with West Yellowstone property owners on vacation rental decks, commercial lodge decks, and residential builds. The town's rustic architectural character favors natural wood and cedar, though we've been installing more composite as property owners prioritize durability over aesthetics.
Ennis
An hour south of Big Sky in the Madison Valley, Ennis is a ranching and fishing community that's grown from Bozeman-area spillover. Properties here often have panoramic views of the Madison Range and proximity to the Madison River.
Ennis sits at 4,941 feet with milder conditions than Big Sky, but still requires full mountain-grade engineering. The town's smaller permitting office means faster approvals, under two weeks.
Why Local Matters for Deck Building
A contractor driving up from Billings or flying in from Denver doesn't know that Big Sky's Meadow Village gets 6-8 feet of snow accumulation on north-facing decks, or that Gallatin Gateway's clay soils shift during spring thaw. We live and build in the Gallatin Valley, and we engineer every deck for your property's specific conditions.
